While a car is certainly recommended for everyday errands and life, one of the big perks of living in the North End neighborhood is that every home here is walking distance from the beach.


The North End is also serviced by Route 35, AKA the Bayfront Trolley, which runs daily from mid-May until Labor Day. It makes stops along the Oceanfront, First Landing State Park, Fort Story, Shore Drive, Chesapeake Bay Beaches, and the North End beaches. There’s service about every 60 minutes.

North End Beaches: Just north of the tourist-hopping Oceanfront lies the North End neighborhood that runs right into the sandy shores of the Atlantic. North End’s beaches are quieter and serene, primarily hosting locals. There are public beach accesses with ramps from 43rd to 89th Streets.


First Landing State Park: Laying just west of the North End neighborhood in Virginia Beach, First Landing offers 2,888 acres of hiking, biking, beaches, camping, history, and more.


Fort Story: Joint Expeditionary Base-Fort Story is located just north of the North End, watching over the entrance to the Chesapeake Bay at Cape Henry. Filled with history and things to see like the climbable Cape Henry Lighthouse, this is a popular attraction on a secure military base.


The Cavalier: This grand, luxurious historic hotel is an icon of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront area, offering a spa, resort, dining options, and many signature events.


Edgar Cayce’s A.R.E. Headquarters: Considered the “father of holistic medicine,” Edgar Cayce’s work and legacy live on at the A.R.E. center in the North End, attracting visitors interested in health, personal spirituality, and research.


Buff’s Garden: Buff’s Garden is a beautiful cancer tribute created by the Buff Foundation to treasure loved ones amid the picturesque beachside.
